Spektrum nomineret til Iakov Chernikov's internationale pris 'Challenge of the Time' 2008
'Dear Joan Maria Raun Nielsen and Sofie Willems, Two years ago the Iakov Chernikhov International Foundation (ICIF) has established a biannual International Prize on the name of Iakov Chernikhov. The Prize will be given to the best among the contemporary architects of the young generation – up to 44 years old - for the most original, authentic and innovative concept of architecture. The prize includes EUR 50 000 and a medal with the image of the stamp of the "Scientific research laboratory of architectural forms and methods of graphic arts" established by Iakov Chernikhov. The whole ICIF Prize organisation can be outlined as the following three steps strategy. The curator proposes up to 30 independent experts. The Expert board composed of eminent architects, architecture critics and writers is nominating for the ICIF Prize architects worldwide under 44 years old. The nominees are approached by the ICIF inviting them to participate in the ICIF Prize contest with an A0 panel profiling their manifesto vision expressing their personal Concept of Architecture and illustrated by their recent works. The panels are supported by additional computer renderings, models and video animations. A distinguished architecture jury made of architecture critics with the participation of ICIF officers is analyzing the materials as to make its final decision for the Iakov Chernikhov Prize laureate. In the 2006 the Prize, given for the first time, was curated by Zaha Hadid and Patrik Schumacher, who defined the list of independent experts. The international jury with the participation of Deyan Sudjic and Elia Zenghelis, has selected the first Iakov Chernikhov Prize laureate: Pier Vittorio Aurelli and Martino Tattara, studio DOGMA.
